Building our Future
In Lake and Mendocino Counties, the need for healthcare capacity is acute. Since 1992, MCHC has met this need by operating three community-based health centers in Ukiah, Lakeport and Willits.
In 2007, we are focusing on renovations to Hillside Health Center. The original building was built in 1955 as Ukiahıs primary hospital. Originally, MCHC expected to serve about 6,000 patients annually. In 2006, more than 12,300 people came into our Hillside Health Center seeking care. The facility is sadly out of date, and access to care for our patients has become ever more difficult. The line at the reception desk frequently stretches out the door.
This year, Hillside Health Center will undergo improvements costing approximately $821,000. These improvements will modernize our facility and augment our services by improving patient reception areas, expanding our obstetrics exam areas to meet growing community need, and redesigning medical units to facilitate the integration of counseling services in the Medical Department—right where they are needed.
Taking a leap of faith, our remodeling project is already underway—but we need your help.
So far we have raised $401,000 for the project. Major donors include:

| $25,000 |
|
First Five of Mendocino |
| $20,000 |
|
Chapman Foundation |
| $346,000 |
|
The California Health Facilities Financing Authority (CHFFA) |

To complete the project, we are pursuing new grant opportunities. Our goal is to raise an additional $80,000 locally. Please help us achieve our ambitious mission of care, clicking the link at right and filling out the simple form. Thank you.
