MCHC receives $346K in improvement funding
UKIAH- Mendocino Community Health Clinic, Inc. (MCHC) is pleased to announce it is the recipient of a facility-improvement grant from the California Health Facilities Financing Authority (CHFFA). The grant award was for $346,000.
MCHC, a local nonprofit healthcare organization providing safety-net primary care services to inland Mendocino County residents, will use the funds to remodel its Ukiah facility, Hillside Health Center. Remodeling plans include expansion of the obstetrics and pediatrics units, improvements to the medical and dental receptions area.
“California’s network of community care clinics offer a crucial lifeline to millions of uninsured and under-insured families. The infusion of funds into this indispensable segment of our health care delivery system is much needed and well-deserved,” said State Treasurer Phil Angelides, who is also chair of CHFFA.
CHFFA was established in 1979 to acquire and improve local community clinics, the safety net providers of health care services such as prenatal care, childhood immunizations, dental care, preventive screenings and routine illness treatment to persons who otherwise have little or no access to health care.
Funding for the grants comes from the Community Clinic Grant Program authorized by the California Legislature in 2005. This initiative builds on the success of the Cedillo-Alarcon Community Care Investment Act of 2000, a measure sponsored by Treasurer Angelides that provided $50 million in grants to California community health clinics. MCHC is very pleased to have been a beneficiary of this grant.
