Building stronger communities: MCHC volunteers
UKIAH – Healthy communities are comprised of healthy people engaged in building the future. The approximately 210 MCHC employees embody this definition of health.
In the past year, MCHC staff devoted over 6,340 hours to community service. They volunteered at their children’s schools, participated in local community organizations, engaged in political activities, were involved in the charitable missions of their churches and donated their professional skills to help those in need.
Their urge to contribute touched many aspects of their community: They fed the hungry and assisted the elderly; they coached local Little League and led Scout troops; they participated in local environmental clean-up projects; they served on boards for local nonprofits and aided the abused; they volunteered for Red Cross and traveled abroad on missions to improve the plight of the desperate around the globe. They are the giving kind of people who will help ensure sure that our region is the best it can be.
Mendocino Community Health Clinic, Inc. is a local nonprofit whose mission is to provide quality health care to the most vulnerable people in its communities. MCHC health centers offer medical, dental, women’s health and counseling services to those who would otherwise lack access to health care. MCHC staff collaborates with other community organizations to appropriately extend its mission of care.
August 6-12, 2006 is Community Health Center Week. To honor this national observance, MCHC wanted its neighbors to know that while its staff works to strengthen the safety net of care, their outside activities make a significant contribution to the vitality of our community. If you would like more information about MCHC or if you are interested in joining our Board of Directors, please contact Executive Assistant Kathy Keyser at (707) 472-4511.
