Blue Shield grant funds Lakeside improvements
LAKEPORT – Mendocino Community Health Clinic, Inc. (MCHC) is pleased to announce it has received funding from the Blue Shield of California Foundation through their 2006 Core Support Initiative. This program was designed to provide for general operating support for clinics that serve large numbers of uninsured patients. MCHC will use the $40K grant to improve Lakeside Health Center. The 1950s-era former hospital required a new roof and the Foundation’s grant has been used to make this improvement.
According Crystal Hayling, president of the Blue Shield of California Foundation. “Our giving reflects our passion for improving the health and lives of Californians. By funding nonprofits that are in the trenches delivering direct medical services, we can strengthen the safety net for our state’s most vulnerable residents. At the same time, we are working with a wide range of partners on the long-term struggle to improve access to quality health care for every Californian.”
MCHC is a local nonprofit healthcare organization that operates Lakeside Health Center, one of MCHC’s three community-based health centers ensuring access to quality healthcare services for the most vulnerable in our communities.
