MCHC welcomes Sandi Brown to Board
UKIAH – Mendocino Community Health Clinic, Inc. (MCHC) is pleased to announce that Sandi Brown, Deputy Director of the Employment and Family Assistance Services Division of the Social Services Branch of Mendocino County’s Health and Human Services Agency, has been elected to its Board of Directors. Ms. Brown’s 27 years working with eligibility and employment services in Mendocino County provides a strong background in understanding the healthcare challenges faced by the uninsured.
About her desire to serve the Board, she commented. “Many of Mendocino County’s low- and middle-income citizens cannot afford private health insurance coverage and turn to health centers like MCHC to meet their family’s health needs. This access to care is crucial for our communities because, when an individual can obtain care before their health condition becomes a crisis, costly impacts on critical health services are reduced. If our citizens are getting the care they need in a timely manner, our communities are more likely to thrive.”
Because of her interest in access to health care, Ms. Brown also serves on the Executive Committee and the Planning and Policy Committee of the Board of Healthy Kids Mendocino, a collaborative effort working to ensure that all children ages 0 through 18 in Mendocino County have access to health insurance coverage.
MCHC is a regional nonprofit healthcare corporation serving inland Mendocino and northern Lake Counties. Patients and community members are welcome to apply to serve on its Board of Directors. Those interested in serving on the MCHC Board may contact Kathy MacDougall at 472-4511.
