| Personal interests: |
Ethnomusicology. Amunka studies, teaches and plays Afro-Caribbean music. He is co-director of Pura Vida, a salsa band, and director of Tremendo, an Afro-Caribbean percussion ensemble. Also, he is founder and Contramestre (teacher) of Capoeira Yokayo, a school that teaches capoeira (a Brazilian martial art dance form).
