Patient Financial Services

When an individual who lacks resources becomes ill, they require help. It is MCHC's mission to provide access to quality healthcare services the people of our community regardless of their ability to pay. 

Because we know that accessing support for health care costs can be difficult, we have a strong Patient Financial Services staff trained to help patients navigate public insurance program applications. They are knowledgeable advocates who assist our patients in meeting their health care costs. MCHC's goal is to provide all patients the health care and the health coverage they need. 

We welcome several public insurance plans, including Medi-Cal, Medicare, County Medical Services Program (CMSP) and Healthy Families. We offer sliding-fee scale and, as practical, affordable payment plans. Those who wish to make cash payments are also welcome; payment is due at time of service unless other arrangements are made. 

Individuals who have private insurance may come to any of our clinics and receive care. However, MCHC does not bill private insurance companies. Therefore, privately insured patients must bill their insurers; our PFS staff is able to support the process. 

Supporting our Patients, Collaborating to Increase Access

 In addition to PFS Representatives, MCHC offers access to a Family Assistance Representative (FAR) from Mendocino County's Health and Human Services Agency. This collaborative service is available to patients at each of our centers, expediting processing of program applications and ensuring that eligible patients may obtain healthcare benefits in a timely manner.
